Caleb smiled across the bed at Pete. He shook his head a little. "Nah, it's all right. I understand." Suddenly it didn't matter how upset Karen had been when she'd first told her father. Caleb seemed to remember he'd hung up on her. It didn't matter, now. What mattered was that Pete was there, now, at Karen's side.
"She quite literally saved my life. And then she forgave me for being an idiot about certain things. And she's helped me over come some of my demons. She's an amazing woman."
