Anne started shaking her head as she pulled back, too. "I'm not hungry. Not right now. I just- I wanted to tell you something."
Taking a deep breath that was very shaky, she took both of his hands in hers. "What you saw me saying, about marriage? Had nothing to do with you. I wasn't talking about you, or marrying you. And in my haste to save myself from heartache, I hurt you. Again. It's not marriage that scares me, Sam. It's that you'll find something better, or want something better or feel like you're missing out on something better-" And here she started to ramble, "- and I don't want you to feel trapped. I want you to be happy. I promised Dean that you'd be happy and watching you go would break me. I couldn't function. The last three days proved that to me and I-"
There were tears and she couldn't stop them. "I would marry you, Sam. Tomorrow, yesterday, five years from now..." She shrugged and dropped his hands to wipe the tears from her cheeks. "You're a part of me like no one else has ever been."
