He pulled her close, and bent his head down to smell her hair. Tears sort of bit at his eyes, as he kept them closed.

"I'm glad. I don't want you to be sick." Sam murmured to her, holding her as closely as he thought was safe. "Oh, Anne."

His family would just have to understand, he thought. Sam loved this woman beyond reason. His hand drifted to her hip, then hesitantly to her belly. He kissed her forehead tenderly.
