Even while he ate, he couldn't help but run his fingers over her hand, letting his thumb skim over the top of hers as well. He grinned as they got a system of him holding the bread while she buttered it, chuckling and kissing her cheek.
"Dates like this usually aren't, actually. I kind of feel the same way." He nibbled at his food as well, but mostly watched her. "That'd be pretty. And yeah - if I ever sleep here, I'll be sure to bring a tie with me or something. I have to sleep in total dark, but fairy lights sound pretty." He had been about to take a sip of wine when she looked at him, and he had to put his glass down.
"Yeah. Yeah, we are. I mean - even my dad knows, and he kind of told your dad too? And they're ... really happy about it. And beyond that? I'm really happy about it. I haven't... I haven't not been scared in a long time of this, and I really want to keep going. I want to ride this as far as it'll take us. As long as you're in, I'm in." He didn't say what else he was feeling, if only because it was premature and vaguely sappy.
