Lorna was a little nervous about leaving the school. They had been so nice to take her in and put up with her breaking stuff so frequently. But everybody needs some time out and about. In her eyes, she had earned her date thing with Pulse.

She needed a steady boyfriend. No doubt at all about that. But for the moment, Pulse could offer her steady sex, and that was waaay better than nothing.

Beside the fact that she had a crush on him, even though she knew it was dumb.

"Breathe and just hold on. We are almost there."

Another minute and they were slipping down an offramp and into a street, and then into a garage. He pulled to a slow stop and turned to her.

"Listen to me. What I did? was not insane. I can drive better than anyone you will ever meet. I think I have earned some trust by now. But Apocalypse? Why are you getting involved?"

"You I trust just fine. What I don't need right now, is to fucking panic! You think you can grab me before I rip the engine out of the cars all around us? Or our own? What do you think would happen if one of the cars on the highway were to suddenly stop?"

She took a deep breath. And another. "And I'm doing this because it's right. If the world's going to end, and the big bad's coming, then I'd rather die trying to do something about it than cowering in a bunker somewhere."

She got out of the car, holding her emotions in check as much as possible.

"Ah hell..."

He beat the wheel of the car.

"The X-Men will be fine... I mean they have a lot of people... right?"

He remembered... like a torrent of sound, he remembered, his pulse racing, his thoughts disrupted, throwing himself at the monster and holding on, his power straining more than it ever had, holding Apocalypse in check. he hadn't had long, or as much as he wanted, but he had been there, and he had slept for a week afterward.

He slowly got out of the car.

"When is it?"

He came up behind her gently and wrapped his arms around her, warmth and his power wrapping around them both.
