Once they were inside the closet, Emily reached up and switched the light off. For a second it was pitch black until she grabbed a flashlight and turned it on. Both of them pressed their backs against the wall and Emily held onto his arm for a few minutes before finally letting go. Yeah, he knew what this was. This was how they spent most of their nights. In the dark, in the hiding spot that Emily found for them until they were found out and had to move to another spot.
"I know. I remember," he said and leaned his head back.
After a few minutes, he finally spoke up. "No one is going to come for us. You know why? Because we're not in hell anymore, Em." Alright, so maybe this was a type of hell? But this wasn't hell. Nowhere near it.
