"No, no," Kimber shook her head, trying to clear the fog. "It's.." What? Complicated? "You don't read the papers, do you?" Not that they had it right. The news reported that both Kimber and Eddie had been attacked by an unknown intruder. She'd have to tell Ollie what really happened. Even if it gave him clues that might lead back to her secret identity.
"He was possessed by a demon-thing." Her voice sounded more normal now. "He was out of control and he hurt a lot of people. Um. They killed him. He's gone. There was no other way to make him stop." Her voice wavered a little as she tried to convince herself. She didn't want to believe she'd signed a man's death warrant. She'd barely been conscious. She shouldn't have been in charge of deciding if her friends murdered her boyfriend. She wanted there to be no other choice.
She looked up at Ollie, hoping he wouldn't blame her. She wanted to touch him now, but she waited.
