Henry listened carefully and quietly. As Jade's tale unfolded, even the gentle rake of her finger over his skin could not distract him. What she told him was, in his instinctual reaction, an utter impossibility. But then, travelling through time and ether to emerge in a completely new world and new era was just as impossible-- and yet, he had done just that. And not only had he done that, Henry was adapting and enjoying this world with a speed and enthusiasm that surprised even him.
So how great of a leap was it, truly, to believe that the magnificent creature beside him was more than human?
"You were wise to conceal this from me before," he told her finally. "The reaction would have been... dire."
"It seems this place has no end of surprises to present." Henry sat up. "And now that I am thoroughly relaxed, I think perhaps some refreshment, and then I will return to Los Angeles fully prepared for whatever I might face there."
