"It's how Boa died before. Don't worry, I'm not going to martyr myself for him." It was oddly quiet in the room while they were both chewing, and she sucked some errant egg off of her thumb. "And... I know what would happen to Onyxx if I died." She thought about what he'd told her and had to bite the inside of her cheek to keep from crying. She still wore the ring he'd given her on a necklace, figuring she'd wear it on her hand when they got married legally. "Half the world wants him in jail. I'm sure he'll get there one way or another."
But when Remy talked about kids being targeted, her eyes darkened. "He's not going to get kids. Or Artan, or anyone else." She lifted her chin defiantly, a hint of Boa's stature and mannerisms mimicked in her own. "Even if I have to drown him too." Of all the things in her life she'd done, killing was what she was least proud of, but if it came to that, she wouldn't hesitate.
Remy's smirk made her laugh, covering her mouth carefully. "I'd be doing the world a favor, huh. I ... half the danger of him is that he's actually sort of charming in his own crazy way. I can see why people would follow him, and that's not good. We talked about our fathers, about why he does what he does. And for maybe half a second, I thought maybe he'd be nice to me, because of how he feels about me." She knew that half-second was dangerous. "Don't worry. It won't happen again. But you're right. Maybe we can use it."
