Sonya waited as a food runner gave them their entrees.
"They said you married her to free her from your father's treatment of her. It could've also been her poor diet, stress, and attack of the nerves that caused her to have trouble bearing healthy children. And wasn't the princess Mary born premature?"
Sonya took a hesitant bite of her food, chicken with pesto and summer vegetables. She felt better when it went down and stayed down.
"I refused his proposals till the end of the tournament. Kahn failed to defeat us but it didn't matter, in the dungeon, I heard rumors of a trump card, that at the start of the first tournament, Shao Kahn had the body of his queen buried on Earth Realm. He had found that if he were to marry an Earth born woman whose soul is strong enough, he and his armies could cross over into Earthrealm without the ten winning streak. The 'Outworld' tournament was only a means of distraction for his priests to begin the resurrection his queen."
"The 'marriage' allowed for the two realms to merge and for Kahn to steal the souls of every human on earth. Except for the souls of the chosen warriors, and for that he sent his armies to eliminate. Cutting it short, I died. Got a spear right through the chest."
There's something in her manner which tells that she's being honest, but she's relaxed in that she may as well be talking about the last time she caught the flu.
