"But you were thinking plenty of things." Grace knowingly countered, unable to help the slight edge of defensiveness. Sometimes she felt like the silly, nervous, helpless one. The rest of them, they were all so strong and brave and she was the one watching the news reports and placing the back of her hand over her open, shocked mouth like an ordinary citizen.
"And I haven't been talking non-stop." She added pathetically before a sheepish smile overtook her features because she knew that she had been. She couldn't help it! Things happened and she got talk-y. She was the lamb among a sea of lions. Lions who preferred to hit things and then ask questions later whereas the reverse was true for her.
Her lips pressed into a tight, grim smile when Kennedy began insisting that they open on schedule instead of kowtowing to the danger that the monster known as the Joker posed to everyone within their city. Well, it wasn't really her city. Grace had lived in a few places but had only been to New York after meeting her girlfriend. This was her home state.
"I can't help it. He's blowing up buildings and killing people and so far, no one can seem to stop him." Grace fretted mildly as she toyed with the fraying edge of a dish towel that was hung over the handle of their oven. "Even with all the supposedly powerful people in this city, some madman is still able to terrorize everyone. It just really doesn't seem appropriate to be throwing a party amidst all of this." She admitted though she had a feeling that Kennedy wasn't about to back down or to let her do so either.
Her hand reached up, tugging a strand of Kennedy's long brown hair as she crinkled her nose. "You're not gonna let me back down, are you?" She asked rhetorically, admitting defeat.
