And just as he said that, there was a spat of clapping and then the lights went dim. For a moment it was almost totally dark, and then lights appeared, slowly, balls of light glowing in the air, stars hanging above their heads. Slowly, the shape of the galaxy took form, just beyond their reach, hovering over them. Then the image zoomed in, focusing on a sun, then on a planet, one that looked like Earth, because it was.
Bruce grinned as he gripped her hand gently, eyes alight.
A voice intoned over the display.
"Radiation, like most things originates in space. Recently we have isolated a new kind of radiation, and found new uses for it."
A rain like patch of blue and purple light seemed to 'fall to Earth, and Earth expanded, the images zooming in to an area where a lab sat, and where scientists studied. Then, a man with a large device strapped on goggled and pressed a button and more of the energy seemed to flow out and around a flower that sat, somewhat wilted, in the image.
Under the rays, it bloomed again, and took on new colors, and new growth.
"This new radiation, under the proper uses, stimulates healthy cell growth, which has led to the first break through of it's kind, a chance to, if testing goes well, with one treatment, turn back the tide of cancer, in every individual, forever."
His announcement sent a thrill through the crowd, and murmuring started as other animals, and plants, all ill, were shown being treated.
"Now comes the real trial, finding funding to change the world. But science has brought forth the latest miracle and it is our job to make it real. Thank you."
The lights slowly came up as the images and darkness faded and Bruce grinned at Emily.
