Emily couldn't help but think of Dean's parting words to her. Something to the effect of her uncanny ability to make friends with people (or "people") who had the intention of harming her.
She didn't think Bruce had that intention at all, but whatever happened to him when he became upset sounded potentially dangerous. She knew that if she were a rational, reasonable human she should politely thank Bruce for his time and then leave. Reason went out the window when she looked into his eyes and saw how deep the hurt ran. He seemed very lonely to her.
"I'm a freak too." It wasn't something Emily ever really advertised or even talked about. She used it when she needed to, but avoided it if it wasn't a necessity. Of course, she hadn't always felt that way about her gift.
She smiled slightly at him. "It's not the same thing but I know what it's like to be different." She silently thanked her lucky stars that she didn't turn into a literal monster when she used her powers.
Her phone buzzed again and she rolled her eyes as she looked down and saw that she had yet another text message from Dean. "Get a life." She hissed at her phone before looking up at Bruce who was staring at her.
