Walter sat down in the booth in the corner, taking the seat that still had view of the window so that he could observe the trash can across the street. Trash cans were good dead drop sites, since the overworked sanitation crew in the city always stuck to their schedule. As long as he told any informants to drop their notes into the trash cans at a specific time, and making that time before the sanitation workers took care of it, they would be excellent dead drop sites that enemies would never search.
Plus, he’d heard that this place had superb hamburgers. “One, uh…” He glanced down at the menu in his gloved hands, his eyes somehow automatically drawn to a cheeseburger with two slices of cheddar, a half-pound pâté, and six – SIX! – strips of bacon. “Mega-Bacon Cheeseburger,” he said with a nod. “That sounds good.” The waitress took the order and hurried off, and he set the menu aside to drink his water.
He didn’t have his mask or his hat on, obviously. Those were only for when he was working. Without it, he appeared to be a fairly average-looking guy with shaggy, ruby-red hair wearing a faded tan trench coat, a dark t-shirt, and a pair of faded khakis with sturdy work boots. He had muscles, but was extremely lean, and he had a leathery look about him. His age would be pegged at anywhere between late twenties and middle thirties. He likely wouldn’t get into such details with someone he just met, of course.
He sat back, breathing out a sigh through his nose, and tapping a beat on the table with his gloved fingers.
