Entry tags:alternaverse plot, doctor strange, zatanna

Who: Stephen Strange and Annataz
Where: On the rooftop of his Sanctum Sanctorium
When: Just after the challenge was issued
Why: Epic magic fighting?
Rating: TBD

There was a rough wind stirring the tails of the coat Doctor Strange wore as he stood on the edge of his roof, dark eyes focused on the world below.  Everything was thrown into chaos once more, some were finding fun in this alternative versions, but he didn't like it at all.  Sometimes he could feel the air around him crackling with positive energies, other times it was very negative and unsettling.  He shook his head as he humphed at the storm clouds forming overhead, obviously his own doing because he was far from calm.

She knew how to find him if she dared to challenge him.  He knew he was stronger than her, but he didn't want to hurt her.  That was still her body, just not her mind, to him.

Annataz barely knew this world, she'd only gotten here hours ago perhaps, and this idiot seemed to know her. Maybe he wasn't an idiot, she didn't know, but he seemed to be close to some sort of counterpart she had? It didn't really matter, he told her to stop being mean. Who was he to tell her what to do? She most certainly wasn't afraid of him.

So she came to the spot where he told her to come, all ready to go. There was no reason to spare his life or anything else of his for that matter. If he thought he could put her down, he'd be mistaken. and then he'd see all of her fury. She appeared on the opposite side of the roof, looking very much annoyed.

"So.. how do you want to do this?" she smiled at him.

Stephen merely cocked an eyebrow at him, thinking she must be very full of herself if she believed she could defeat him. But he said nothing as he turned around to fully face her, the coat still billowing about him as he folded his hands. The Eye of Agamotto was out in plain view, glistening bright green and resting against his chest as he sighed.

"I can bind your powers, if you them just like her, put you away until I figure out what to do with you or until you become Zatanna again. Your choice."

Her face scowled, "I haven't even done anything. But that's just like you people, trying to always condemn someone before they've been found guilty. You do that often don't you? I'm telling you, your little girlfriend isn't coming back. I don't care if I took over her body, or I gutted her like a fish. She's not yours, and I don't care what happens to her."

Whatever that thing was against his chest, she didn't like it, but she was damned if she was going to be scared in front of him. "and if you somehow miraculously do bind my powers and lock me up against my will and if somehow she does come back, what then? Is she really going to look at you the same after you've hurt her? But you probably'd like that.. hurting her."

"I'm not condemning you, but I'm not letting you running amok when you obvious radiate so much evil. Yes, she will look at me the same, because she would understand why I did it. She knows I would never intentionally bring harm to her unless it was absolutely necessary." Stephen waved off her comments, the barbs to try and get to him. It was harder than that to get to him.

His eyes looked darker now as he started to come towards Annataz, and a small blue orb of light formed in his outstretched hand. "Maybe you have a penchant for pain, but she doesn't. Your words will not strike a chord in me like you hope."

Annataz tsk'd slightly, "You hope she will. Even if you tell her, what makes you think I haven't done something to disprove all of that? I could have left something behind.." but very well, what the other one felt for him was none of her concern.

Through with words, she outstretched her hand, and recited "˙ɯıɥ ןןıʞ" letting a fury of magic his way.

"Because I know she will believe me." At least, he hoped she wouldn't think he'd outright hurt her. Then the barrage of magic flew at him, and suddenly Stephen was engulfed in a protective blue orb, the one from his hand, that had enlarged and shielded him from her magics. He watched as each one bounced off the force field and spun off into varying directions. When it was over, the shield fell away like water, and he waved a hand, bright green energy surrounding her and encasing her with a solid ring around her waist, fastening her arms down to her body. "You're not as bad as you think you are," and he waved his hand which drew the now bound Annataz towards him to hover in midair.

"I'm going to strip all of your powers away now, so you won't be able to pull that little stunt again." So he walked around her, drawing small glowing runes into the air around her to begin that ritual.

With her bound as easily as that, she still didn't seem to be interested in relenting. "I'll make sure she hates you.. you'll see.." she struggled for a while, whispering things to see if she could get the binding undone, but it was no use. She wasn't going anywhere.

And she could feel her magic being drained out of her, leaving her cold and empty. Taking it out of her was almost like killing her, since she wasn't trained in them, she was born with them, they were a part of her race. She slumped slightly, but still glared.

"Right. I'm sure you'll do everything in your power to make her hate me," he said sarcastically. With what power? She wasn't going to have any very soon. But when Zatanna came back and if her powers were still gone because of this? Stephen could restore them in an instant. Her powers filtered out of her into the tiny jewel in the center of the Eye, where it would be kept safe and sound until its master could reclaim it.

Once he was finished, he released the bonds on her, where he caught her as she fell out of them.

She just smirked at him, because he kept thinking in terms of magic, and if she was going to make her hate him, then she would have done something much more simple. After all, she was herself, in a matter of speaking. With the bonds gone, and he caught her, she did the next logical thing and hit him in the face. "Asshole."

Now, he definitely wasn't expecting that. And his head jerked back as her fist connected with his jaw. Stephen dropped his hold on her and stumbled back, hand cradling his soon to be bruising jaw. "Argh!" If he thought he'd hit her back, she was sorely mistaken. He could bind her again if she kept this up.

No, she was sure he wasn't going to hit her back. Because he was too much of a gentleman to hit a lady. She rolled her eyes at him, but didn't hit him again. That was just what he deserved for taking away her powers. "Touch me again and I'm gonna break off something else.." and then she turned around to walk back down the apartment. Great, how the fuck was she going to get home? Stupid bastard.

"You're not going inside of my sanctum. You get back here," and he waved his hand which froze her right in place. "You're the one who thought you could come here and kick my ass, and now you think you're waltzing through my home? Not happening." And he walked up to her and got in her face. "For the record, you'll never get to put your hands on any part of me. Ever." And he was enough of an asshole to flick her nose with his thumb just to piss her off. After a few moments, Stephen had opened a portal and grabbed hold of Annataz and dragged her through and taken the pair of them down to the street out front of the Sanctum Sanctorium. "There." And he waved his hand to release her again.

Oh for the love of Pete. She was froze in place and frowned when he flicked her nose. Yeah, she'd make sure that whatever this stupid thing was between her other self and this self absorbed asshole was? It wasn't going to happen again. She was dragged through the portal, cursing at him until she was through. Well fine, she didn't need powers to sabotage any sort of relationship, he should have thought about who he was insulting.
