Who: AU!Crowley, AU!Aziraphale
What: Care and Feeding of an Angel
When/Where: Tonight, the Angel's room under Crowley's club
Warnings: D/s elements, possibly Angel smut.

Crowley made her way down to the room where she kept the pet, just fast enough to suggest a slight air of worry. The Angel had been acting strangely, ever since her last feeding, and she was starting to sense his soul finally giving in to the desire to fade away.

She was worried over losing her toy, before she had the chance to train a new one. That was certainly it. She simply had to make her pet last, until she could find another. That was where the worry came from.

Moving to the door, she willed it open, looking around- her latest gift, a new stack of books for the pet to pour over, hadn't been touched, and the usually neat room was in a state of disarray. That earned a frown, as she moved further in, hands on her hips.

"Angel?"

He sat on the floor, surrounded by his books, usually so neatly kept, but now scattered about the room in disarray. He'd clearly been attempting to straighten up before Crowley arrived, and had failed to do anything but sit in the middle of the floor.

He looked up to her, the light dim in his eyes. Behind him, his greyed feathers sagged haphazardly. "Hello, dearest," he said with a little smile that failed to reach his eyes. He knew he was going down, and the centuries of giving all that he had to his mistress were catching up to him, speeding up the process considerably.

"Good God," She mumbled, moving over to step around his stacks of books, to kneel behind him and inspect his quickly shedding wings. She removed one of the half-moulted feathers, and inspected the dirty gray color to it.

"Angel, what am I going to do with you?"

Aziraphale looked up to meet her eyes. "I live only for you, dearest." He reached up and lay his palm to her cheek. "With my last breath, I wish only to please you."

She wasn't sure what it was, but the words made her chest tighten, frown deepening into something resembling genuine concern. She continued to preen his wings, as a means to distract herself.

"I was expecting more warning of your exhaustion, Angel. What will I do now, to sustain myself?" Her tone was chastizing, as she collected the broken, dead feathers to her side, not wanting to add to the mess by leaving them wherever.

He bowed his head. "I let you down." His eyes closed and he pulled in a breath. "Forgive me, dearest. I hadn't known it would be like this." Through it all, his only regret was leaving her so quickly. He estimated he had perhaps a week, maybe more, maybe less.

"Yes, well, I suppose it's about time, after all. You deserve your rest," She was being exceptionally carefully with his grooming, now, not wanting to waste any of his energy on unnecessary pain. This had long ago stopped being a sexual exchange for the pair, now simply a necessity, a fact of her keeping the Angel to her standard.

"I do not wish to rest, dearest." Zira dropped his head to his hands, hands supporting his head while Crowley plucked out his dying feathers. "I wish to please you, as ever."

She sighed heavily, taking the Angel by the shoulders to slide him around to face her, so she could start on his inner wing. "I had believed it to be possible, pet, but apparently you've reached your limit."

Zira shook his head lightly. He winced from the attention to his sensitive inner wing. "Perhaps it's just these broken feathers. Remove them, and I will thrive again."

Crowley paused in her grooming, to reach out and place her fingertips under his chin, to pull his eyes up to meet hers. "Does that feel the case, Angel?" The question was rhetorical, for the most part- she simply didn't wish him to lie to her.

"You wish to live on," She prompted, letting go of his chin so she could go back to his work- she wanted an honest answer, not what he felt he should say, under her scrutiny.

"I do not fear death." Zira said with little conviction in his voice, though it was true. "But I wish not to leave you."

Crowley rolled her eyes at that, moving to preen the other wing. "Of course you fear death. You're Hellbound, Angel- I would fear that, myself."

"Stop. Just.. no," She growled, letting the wing go as she pulled herself to stand, glaring down at him.

"You'd never survive it, Angel. You're being a fool."

Zira shook his head. "No, dearest. Living, living would be worse, if I'm unable to service you. That is a hell far worse than anything you Lord might subject me to. Hell has no imagination, after all. So it would be hot. At least I'd not be sitting here feeling useless."

Crowley moved over to the wall, helping herself to some of the wine she'd left for him. She noticed the bottles were hardly touched- he hadn't been drinking. The same could be said, for the food she'd left to accompany it. It was pathetic, actually.

Taking a drink, she sighed, moving to sit in front of him and offer him the cup. "If you wish to be of any use to me, you need to keep a modicum of strength, dear."

He nearly pushed the cup away, saying he didn't want any, but she was offering it to him, and he wouldn't disappoint her. He reached up, cupping his hand around the glass, and raised it to his lips to sip.

She sensed his desire to push it away, and frowned. "You're wasting away, Angel, if nothing else your body needs strength."

"I'm not looking for apologies, Angel, I want results." Crowley sighed, reaching up to brush Aziraphale's hair from his face as he drank.

"You can't die, not like this. I refuse to allow it."

Sighing, she reached over and took the cup, filling it with a thought before taking another drink herself.

"Just this once, Angel, be Goddamn selfish." She didn't seem in the mood to worry after her own appetite- she didn't feel hunger, instead it was replaced by an odd sense of worry. "What will you do, to fix yourself?"

"I'm not selfish, dearest. I live for you, you know this." Zira reached for Crowley's hand, placing it against his chest. "I'm afraid it's too late for me. But I can assist you, while I am still here. I have a week, I think. A few days, anyway."

Sighing, Crowley took another drink, silent in her thought. She was being stupid over it all. He was just a man, he was food, she had no reason to be this attatched. She could survive, off of other sources. She had before.

But she owned him. He had allowed her to become his mistress, possess him completely, and a gift like that deserved to be rewarded. If only she knew how.

"Perhaps if I were to fulfill some angelic duty, I would be granted some reprieve?" Zira suggested. he was both willing to give up his life for his mistress, and desperate to live and continue to serve her.

"I'm afraid there's nothing to be done, from here." Zira winced. He hadn't been out of his dungeon room for centuries. By choice. Though the door was kept locked, the lock was to protect him, not contain him.

She moved to wave a hand at the door, and the 'click' of the lock unlatching rang through the room.

"You've only ever had to ask, and I would have allowed you to roam. You would return to me," It wasn't a question, it was a statement. She would be able to hunt the Angel down, no matter where he went, now. Centuries of familiarity had done that, for her.

The angel shook his head. "I've no desire to leave you, my dearest. You are my sole reason for living, and if I am away too long, I fear the separation would kill me quicker than this disease."

"I would accompany you as far as I could, of course, Angel. I've no desire to let my pet go wandering the streets by himself, after so long. The world has changed since you've taken up residence with me," Her clothes, and the clothes and books she brought for him were a testament to that. Still, she was certain reading about it and seeing it, would be two different things.
