Who: AU! Sonya, OTA
What: Jogging through Central Park
When: Sunday morning
Warnings: maybe cursing

Whoever invented iPods was Sonya's new best friend, they where much easier and less bulky to go running with than with a walkman.

Thanks to a crash course in sorcery, Sonya was able to modify her clothes to fit her, thus saving her morning for fitness conditioning and not shopping. Really, just because she was taking lessons in magic didn't mean she had to let herself go soft.

So, with some 70s 'classic' rock in her ears, Sonya had started running around central park, only stopping till she reached the 'one mile mark'. She slowed down to a fast walk and looked at her watch, frowning when she realized it had taken her eight minutes to run a mile.

Maybe it's a good thing she's not at the academy, her superiors would've given her hell for being that slow-she'd have to work harder.

"Whoo!"

Coming to a stop at the bench Sonya was relaxing on, Barbie tossed her perfect hair and grinned at the other woman. She was dressed in a pale pink tracksuit and matching water bottle case. Taking a long drink, she waved a hand in her face and exclaimed, "It's so NICE outside today!"

Sonya couldn't help but feel a little waif-like next to the perky blonde, her own pony-tail bound hair was matted in sweat.

She smiled a little, taking off the ear buds. "Suppose so, but I'd run in even cloudy weather." What, Sonya, fitness obsessed? never.

"TOTALLY! Rain or shine, right? Of course," Barbie continued, just as perkily as ever, "Nothing can keep someone in that wants to be a jogging buff. And what's a little rain, anyway?"

Still smiling at the woman, Barbie held out her hand. "Hi, I'm Barbie!"

"Actually, I'm trying to be a speed buff, but the point still stands."

She blinked at the other blonde: the name and the overwhelming amount of pink adding up. Yet Sonya couldn't bring herself to scorn her, not yet anyway, still she decided to play it cautious as she shook Barbie's hand. "hi, Sonya Blade."

"Sonya's such a pretty name," Barbie said, shaking her hand enthusiastically.

Placing one foot on the bench, Barbie bent over and began to stretch, thinking about what else Sonya had said. "Speed is SUCH a good thing to have. I can TOTALLY relate. I mean, not because I like racing but because I LOVE the wind whipping through my hair." Emphasis on her hair as she tossed her head again.

Sonya wondered if she was going to get cavities from being around this girl.

"Barbie's short for 'Barbara' isn't it?" She couldn't imagine a mom giving the name 'Barbie' to a new born, but then again this girl looked more like a 'Barbie' than Barbara.

She took her lead and started stretching, just as well since she was starting to feel her legs tighten up. She smiled a little. "That makes one of us then. I personally find the 'wind in your hair' to be irritating, I can't see a thing if I'm running around without it pulled away from my face."

"Nope, just Barbie," she told Sonya, her smile never leaving her face. "Barbara is so... stuffy."

Switching to her other leg, Barbie stretched it gently. "Oh, if I'm RUNNING? My hair stays back. I don't mind it. It's all kinds of fluffy afterwards if I leave it down. It's SOOOOOOO pretty."

Barbie tilted her head and looked at Sonya's hair. "You have pretty hair, too. Even if it's in a ponytail."

yup, cavities

Sonya stretched her other leg, placing it on the top most part of the bench and stretching it all the way. she closed her eyes a little as she felt her tendons relax.

"Pretty maybe, but not much I can do with it besides the very basics. I'm so glad this isn't the 80s anymore, can't say the 'big hair fad' was really for me."

"Where you jogging for health or something to do?" Sonya gave her a look over, she need to loose any weight, but you could never tell.

"Oh, hair can always be twisted into something else," Barbie lectured gently. "If you train it, it'll do whatever you want it to." A pause. "Big hair is tacky. Don't ever let someone tell you different."

Nodding, she continued, "Just running to run. Sometimes it feels good just to be moving, you know?"

This caused her to laugh out loud. "You may as well tell that to my high school, I'm from 1984, when it big hair was in style."

"I know the feeling, I get antsy if I'm not doing something, even if it's studying. In my case," She looked again at her watch. "I'm trying to build up endurance enough to run a five minute mile..you caught me when I'd only managed an eight minute."
