Why: Sonya's getting her first baby-related check up.

It seemed that once she even began to admit that she may be pregnant, the symptoms became harder to ignore. The headaches lasted longer, even after she'd gone to bed, she would wake up to a headache, and she thought the constant tiredness was bad enough-she actually had to go to bed at an earlier hour or risk oversleeping.

Shang agreed to go with her, though Sonya had a feeling he would've gone anyway, letting her drive so she could go immediately from the doctor's to her work and then back to the mansion.

Sonya was dressed in her BDUs, and when they stepped into the building, she couldn't help but feel apprehension. This was one of the few times she'd gone to the hospital willingly and with no urgency, not unconscious or close to threatening a doctor just to have a moment with a seriously wounded team member.

The waiting room was only half full as the couple stepped to the front desk. "Hello," it was a matter of pride that Sonya could keep her voice professional when she was still tense. "I'm Sonya Blade, I have an appointment with Dr. Cameron." The receptionist looked at a paper from a stack and nodded, telling them to 'have a seat, and that Dr. Cameron will be here shortly'.

After going through a couple of her patients, taking care of them and doing the rounds, Cameron knew that it was time for her appointment with Sonya, and so she had put everything away, and headed down to go and greet her. She came down the elevator and spotted what she hoped was Sonya there waiting for her.

"Miss Blade?" she questioned, "I'm Dr. Cameron.." and if it wasn't her, well then she'd just wait around.

If she noticed the awkwardness, she didn't show it. She just smiled and shook Sonya's hand, "It's nice to meet you both.. you can follow me back this way.." she waved them both back towards the doors and into one of the examination rooms, grabbing the right chart from the pile.

"You can have a seat up there.." she told Sonya, pointing to the examination table, flipping through the chart and writing some stuff down. "So do you need a full work up? You haven't been to a doctor since you found out?" she asked.

	Sonya carefully sat on the table, unbuttoning the army-issue blouse, under which was a black t-shirt. "I think that'd be a good idea, first pregnancy and all. And no, only found out a few days ago." "First I'll take a blood sample and put that through so that it can be tested while I give you a checkup.." telling her as she went to the cabinet and pulled out a needle that was freshly wrapped in a package that was new. After taking it out, she went over to draw some blood from Sonya's arm.

"Do you have an estimate of how far along exactly you are? You should count by your last missed period, not by when conception is."

	Sonya held out her arm, after what she's been through a needled and such are nothing. She did grit her teeth a little at the needle's sting. "Well, my last period was June 24th. So it could be between two or three weeks, maybe." She never thought she really had to remember this from health class. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Shang Tsung shuffled in the background, none of this was terribly interesting to him. When Sonya had been pregnant in Outworld, there had been no Doctor visits. The Doctor seemed intelligent though, and Sonya seemed to be determined to be on top of everything... as was always that case. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

After she'd taken the blood she went to go put the sample inside a dish and then have it shipped off and dispose of the needle properly. Then she wrote some stuff on her chart. "All right then, basically I'll just do an ultrasound and then a pelvic exam and then we can get you set up with all the prenatal vitamins you need and set you up with some more appointments so we can keep track of things." She glanced over at the guy and then back to Sonya, "We can do the ultra sound first if that's easier.." she didn't know if she minded Shang being there for the pelvic exam or not. It wasnt really the same as seeing someone naked.

	Christ, this was starting to sound like the time she first signed up for the military. "Let's start with the ultra sound, then pelvic exam." She was now even more glad the doctor. Even the suggestion of a pelvic exam from a male would make him see red, she wasn't looking forward to it in the first place, dealing with a semi-enraged Tsung would make things worse. "Sounds good.. just push up your shirt a little bit?" Cameron asked, trying to give a reassuring look while she went to go wheel the ultra machine over and grab up the jelly stuff to put on her stomach. After making sure that the machine was working properly, and Sonya had her shirt pushed up, she put some of the goo on her stomach and grabbed the wand end of the machine.

"All right, let's take a look.."

	Sonya pushed up her shirt enough to show her belly, sucking in a little as she put the cold gel on her stomach. No, she wouldn't show that she was maybe just a little excited at seeing what turned up. "I thought two or three weeks was two early to see anything." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

"Yeah it is, but at the very least I can make sure that it looks like everything's in the right place. It'll take another couple of weeks before it actually shows up though.." she ran the wand over Sonya's belly, letting her see what it looked like on the monitor. "Everything looks okay from here.. but we'll need to do one of these just about every time you come in here."

"Well that's good news," said Shang Tsung in a heavy tone. He supposed he was relieved that his child wasn't going to look like a Shokan, but at the same time it sounded like he had plenty of doctor visits in store.

He liked the facility, and the technology was incredible... but he could do without the people. Though, they were admittedly more intelligent than most other people he had ran into on the realm.

"I suppose that means we're finished here for today?" Shang Tsung said as he got up and stretched.

Sonya looked at the screen, squinting. True, she didn't expect to see a fully formed baby, but it looked more like a slightly large grain of rice. She also felt a little guilty that she didn't even feel a little proud, mostly because the concept of her being pregnant still scared her. How can she be expected to care and raise for this life form inside of her with her sort of life.

She sighed, exasperated at his remark. "Tsung, if you're that bored you can always leave. The doctor said she had other questions."

Trying not to smile at his impatience, she nodded a bit. "I still need to do a pelvic exam, but that shouldn't take too long. Ten minutes maybe.." she then glanced over at Sonya, "It's up to you if you want him to stay or not. Either way, you should put this on and take off your pants after you get it on."

She handed her one of those dressing gown things that could go over her lower half. "I'll be right back while you're changing.." and then she exited the room, giving them some privacy.

"I'd like him to stay, since at least this way I don't have to repeat anything you tell me."

After the doctor left, she stood up, taking off her boots and military trousers before putting the gown on. This was seeming more and more like a check up for the army.

She looked back at him. "It's not like I have a gun to your head, but this is serious and I'd like for you to stay."

	Cameron did some work, and checked on the labs before coming back and peeking her head in. "All set?" she asked, coming inside the room. She noted that Tsung was staying, and then went over to where Sonya was and had her put her feet up into the stirrups so that she could do the exam quickly and carefully. 	"Just a regular pelvic exam, that's all. It's standard, just to make sure you're all healthy.." which then she started to do. Thankfully she was pretty gentle and thorough, and eventually told her it was all over. Sonya got dressed and waited until she came back.

"Aside from when and how to take these, I have a few questions. one, aside from what I shouldn't drink like caffeine or alcohol, anything else I should know and two.." She looks at Shang a moment. "I'm an officer in the army, and they're having me transfer to England in a few weeks. Is that ok, or should I try to extend my stay here?"

A couple minutes later she came back with everything that she'd need, including a bunch of prescriptions of which she held out to her. "Let's see.. you should avoid MSG, anything like olestra or saccharin that's a fake food substance.. avoid uncooked meat and fish of course.. though fish is good, I'd avoid any other type of seafood.. there's a book I could give you.. we've got a bunch of this stuff.."

She hm'd a bit, "Depends on how you're getting over there. I'd avoid using portkeys all together. They're too turbulent. But going by airplane's just fine, no reason you can't travel."

	Sonya couldn't help but look wide eyed at the prescriptions, nodding. "So basically avoid the mess hall on Base altogether. A book would be good, to know what's what." "I can get you one of those sure.." she just had to find them. "Yeah.. just.. I dunno, eat like you would if you were on a diet, but for two people. Healthy stuff.." she started to rifle around things. "Sorry.. I don't.. know exactly where everything is around here yet.. oh here we go.." she picked up some brochures and handed them over.

Cameron grinned, "Well I was hoping not, but you never know with some people."

	That got another nod. "I've been moving from base to base since I can remember, I've got it down pat." She looked at the brochures. "uh, this might sound awkward, but before Tsung arrived 'here' he said that I was already pregnant and going through morning sickness-any actual remedies, or should I just 'suck it up and wait for it to pass'?" "Let's see.. tea can help.. peppermint or ginger especially. Ginger's good for relieving all kinds of upset stomach problems.. the vitamin B6 is supposed to help.. and you can buy actual ginger supplements.. ginger ale's good. Just about anything you'd normally do for an upset stomach.." she rattled off, "And there's of course a bunch of.. products you can try that are supposed to help and keep you hydrated.. it's better to eat small meals throughout the day then two or three big ones.."

Shang Tsung hadn't meant to sound rash, or impatient. He genuinely had no clue how these things work as had never went to the Doctor on Outworld. He listened to everything, and caught on well enough. He found Sonya's thoroughness to be refreshing, because he himself was very thorough. He didn't directly reply to Sonya's comments, but he tried to listen as intently as possible to show interest. He wasn't quite sure about moving to London, but money wouldn't be an issue on that.

Everything else he made a mental note of, and wasn't surprised that he and Sonya had followed by most of these rules in Outworld... it seemed most everything was pretty logical.

"Yeah sure.. I can do that.." she reached into her lab coat pocket and pulled out one of her cards. "That has email and my number on it if you need me for any reason. We're pretty good at being able to hop around since of the portkeys, though I'm sure there are lots of really good doctors in London.."

She smiled at both of them, "It was nice meeting you both.. and congratulations.."

"I'm sure there are, but I'd rather just stick with one doctor, since transferring means answering the same questions to a different doctor and papers can get lost or delayed in transfer and I'd like to know the results of the blood tests as soon as possible.
