He knew her too well. She knew he knew. But there was nothing else to say, really. She knew she could mope and hide herself away and cry, things she'd already done back in New York, or enjoy a warm vacation weekend in Mexico with Jamie. She chose the latter. With the way things had been going, she wasn't sure they'd get another chance soon, and she didn't want to remember this weekend as a depressing one.
"I'll be fine," she reassured him with a tiny smile. "It's sweet that you're worried. But there's nothing I can do about it. It'll take a little time, that's all."
Mia nodded at the warning as she stood up. "I've been to enough backwater planets to know to be careful."
