Tony had spent this time alone thinking about a few things, most importantly, what was eating him. The whole baby thing had been the most prevalent on his mind, aside from the fact they'd died. He'd died before, been near death plenty of times; it was the reason he had the Extremis virus inside of him right now. He really did believe he'd reached a point where death no longer bothered him unless it was someone else. But he never blamed Pepper for any of it, just blamed himself for not protecting her, for not keeping her safe and from losing a baby on two separate occasions.
He'd just turned a corner, contently munching on his hotdog when he heard Pepper's ringtone in his ear. Tony hadn't yet gone into any shops, mostly just peering into windows at their displays as he ate so far. "Hey," he said as he clicked the Bluetooth headpiece. He could have just answered it inside of his head, but since he was out and about in a public place where talking to himself without a visible earpiece might get him committed, he thought better about it.
