Max was freaking out. Which was nothing new, really. But this time it wasn't an acid flashback, or a bad dream. He heard the other patients screaming, and it made him very afraid. Things were going to bad, and he really, really didn't want to be there.

	Max stood, forgetting to slide his folding chair back. It hit the floor with a clatter, and made him jump forward, knocking the card table over. Despite it all, he was kind of glad to see Vance. 	Max didn't say much else until they were out of the hospital. Just being there made him uncomfortable, and now that he was out he felt much more like himself. "Thanks, man. 	Out to the van, Vance led him, and grinned. "A ways away. Far enough and outside of the madness. And yes. The man I replaced ran and owned Penthouse. We're headed back to the mansion." Vance laughed.

"Now, as long as you are nice to the girls, whatever happens between you and them is your business. I'm not with any of them, so it is not like I have an interest, as long as you don't piss them off."

He chuckled as he turned into traffic, moving fast.

"Meanwhile, there is a doc on the grounds, so you can still get the medicine, and every channel in the world on tv, plus movies, a pool, and even a track to run on if you really want to."

	"I'm a geek, and more of a slow, take time, kind of person." He waved a hand. "These girls are used to a fast pace life style, and guys who don't slow down. And that is just not me. That made him wince. "Probably worse than having no one. I figure I'm the only one from my universe who's supposed to be here."

He's not going to think about Jude. Not at all. Not about where he is, or what happened to him after he was taken away from this world. He's not going to think about it at all, dammit.

For the first time, Max showed how hard he was trying to not think about something. The magazine in his hands crumpled as his fists tightened, and he became suddenly more interested in looking out the window. "Gonna carry that weight a long time." In his universe it would have been a cut away scene, where Vance couldn't hear him. But this was not his universe.
