Who: Peter Parker and Lara Croft
What: Pete got his cracker ass shot.
Warnings: There's no way of knowing.

Peter was doing his best to breathe. Stay calm, meditate, keep pressure on the wound--or was it off the wound? Shit. As soon as he got home he was going to have to make a love connection with Google just for this kind of thing to happen in the future.

He reclined on a high wall at the intersection he'd told Lara about. Typing the message had not been fun. He probably could have avoided a lot of the pain simply by not capitalizing letters, but the day he did that was the day he went down to the pharmacy and moved to the female hygiene aisle because he would officially be a douche.

Seeing the message from Peter had nearly scared the life out of her. Lara had resigned herself to having a crush on him, never telling him the truth, just suffering through it all this time. Really, what business did she have having feelings for him? She was 23, he was 16. It could never work.

Then all of a sudden Peter's having a crisis, of what could possible be life threatening proportions. And all she could think was that she'd never told him. He could die without ever knowing how she felt. She all but flew out the front door, hopping onto her bike and peeling out of the driveway, a knapsack of first aid supplies on her back.

Speeding down the motorway, she was heedless of the traffic, hoping she made it to Peter in time before he passed out from blood loss. Screeching to a stop in front of the intersection he'd told her, she hopped off the bike, parked and stood with her arms akimbo, waiting for him to pop up in front of her, per his usual routine.

Peter walked carefully down the wall holding his shoulder. He would have preferred to leap down in some theatrical stance as he often did, sometimes from the ceiling of their own place (which drove her, no pun intended, completely up the wall). But doing so would have resulted in his passing out, he imagined. Or at least just bad enough a feeling to give him pause.

"Hi." He wasn't wearing his mask. "The name's Spider-Man, I'll be your fare this evening.

It was bad enough that Peter slowly crawled down a wall, cradling his injured limb, rather than leap down, and her heart stuck in her throat watching the young man descend the wall. But adding insult to his injury was the lack of mask. Peter was rarely without the mask when in costume, even though his identity wasn't really all that secret. Lara knew that he must not be feeling like himself.

"Oh Peter," she sighed, her hand involuntarily coming up to caress his cheek. Just before it came into contact with his face, she remembered herself and paused, unsure if she should touch him or not. Lara thought 'Bugger it all' and did it anyway.

"I'm fine. Fine-ish. I'll live. This isn't the first bullet to rupture my spider tuchis. I just did the dry heaving thing, so I should be safe to ride on your bike. You don't have any gum, a mint, anything? Oh, and some pain killers would be great, because my shoulder is on fire." He'd read somewhere that gunshot wounds didn't hurt as bad as people thought they did, assuming they didn't hit anything major, since it deadened the nerves (or something). But someone from SHIELD once suggested that he had a healing power. So he was healing himself just enough to be in agony and not enough to fix the wound.

Awesome.

"Don't worry." His attempt to lessen Lara's worry was probably defeated by the surge of pain as he spoke, causing him to double over. With a deep breath, he stood again and gave her a smile. "See? No problem," he added shakily.

Her brow furrowed worriedly. His colour wasn't good, and she could see through his brave front. Sliding an arm gingerly around his waist, she helped him over to her bike, sitting him down on it. Lara took of the knapsack and pulled out a bottle of water and two nondescript looking pills. They were heavy duty painkillers that would work by the time they made it back to their flat.

"Here, let me at least partially bandage you up until we can get you home, and I can take care of the rest of this problem." Pulling heavy gauze pads out of the bag, she pressed them against his shoulder, then wrapped a long bandage around him to hold the pads in place. Once she had him temporarily patched up, she slid onto the bike in front of him. "Hold onto me tightly with your good arm, Peter. I don't plan on obeying speed limit laws." With that being said, she sped off towards home, intent on getting him taken care of so her heart could stop threatening to leap from her throat.

He knew it was entirely psychological, but he felt better as he swallowed the pills and Lara bandaged him up. Well enough to stop holding the arm, anyway. Part of the reason he'd been doing so was to slow the bleeding, but he also didn't want the wound to close with the bullet still inside. He didn't know exactly how his powers worked, and he was pretty sure that wasn't possible anyway, but he didn't want to risk it.

When Lara suggested that he should put an arm around her, Peter looked at her (hardly for the first time), tried to decide what would be an appropriate touching place, and then decided firmly that there wasn't one and placed his good hand on his seat. "I think I'll just hang on. I'm good at hanging. I'm a hanger."

Lara turned to face him, arching an eyebrow dubiously, and stared at him. "Don't be ridiculous, Peter. Hold onto my waist, or around my shoulder. I don't wish to risk your neck any more than necessary getting home."

Turning back around, she waited for him to comply. It wasn't as if she hadn't thought about what it would feel like to have his arm wrapped around her, his body pressed tightly against hers. She'd never asked him to ride with her for exactly this reason, but the bike had been the quickest, most logical choice to come get him on. The cars would have taken too long to get out of the garage, and they couldn't squeeze between traffic, or take shortcuts quite like the bike could.

Peter didn't quite feel up to raising his arm up to put it around her shoulder, so instead he put it around her waist. He focused very hard on keeping it steady in the small amount of area occupied by neither lap nor boob. He never thought he would say this, but she had way too much boob for his own good.

His spider-sense clicked on, so when she adjusted anything at all that might have made him brush against something that would get his blood flowing, he adjusted with her. It kept him from adjusting whenever something made him wince, but it was a price he was willing to pay to avoid awkwardness.

"So, see any good movies lately?" he said into her ear as they drove to save his life.

Honestly, she really hadn't been thinking properly when she'd brought the bloody motorcycle. Every tiny little imperceptible move made her worry he was in pain. Or made her squirm because he was touching her, his arm holding to her just tightly enough to not fall off, and she could swear that he was avoiding any unnecessary contact.

"Movies?" she queried, her eyebrow cocked at the idea. "Are you mad? You're bleeding on me, barely conscious it seems, and in massive sodding pain and you want to talk about movies?" And all at once she realized he was probably trying to distract himself as well as her from his pain and injury. Fine then, so be it.

"Honestly, I haven't seen anything lately. Just the films about me that we've watched back at the flat. What about you, Spiderman? Are you caught up on the films about you?"

"It's Spider-Man," he said absently. "Two words hyphenated, don't let it run together. And those aren't me. That guy? Lame. Me? I am awesome. I should change my name to Awesome-Man, and if I had been bitten by a chemically-altered awesome, I probably would--" He stopped suddenly when he was given the sudden choice between a jolt causing him to touch her boob or to scream like a girl, and he chose the boob.

"Sorry." His pale face colored slightly.

"Right, sorry. Spider-Man then. How silly of me to not discern the difference." She smiled at his correction of her mispronunciation of his moniker. A massive pothole lurked and she just barely missed it by jerking the bike to the right.

She blushed profusely at the hand that grazed her breast as his arm clamped around her waist. It was barely a touch at all really, not much on the grand scale of intimacy, but it was the closest either of them had gotten with each other, and Lara nearly closed her eyes in frustration. If it hadn't been for the concentration she needed to focus on motoring the bike around, she'd have hidden her face in her palms.

"Not a problem," she said instead, her teeth mostly clenched together. "These things happen when riding a motorcyle." She tried her very best to be nonchalant about it, but had the sneaking suspicion that she was failing miserably.

Peter had thought he was safe when he wasn't poking her the second he got onto the bike--motorcycle plus hot roommate equals boner, in most mathematical systems. Since that didn't happen, maybe the wound was keeping it at bay. Now his brain seemed to have decided that it did, in fact, have enough blood left to support his embarrassment, and was currently threatening to rip a hole in his Spider-Pants.

Peter thought quickly to distract himself. "I saw My Breast Friend's Wedding before I popped into this universe. It was pretty terrible." There was something off about that sentence, but Peter couldn't quite place it. He rushed on, voice going a bit higher than he would have preferred. "And, um... other... movies."

If her blush wasn't dark enough, the feel of his erection pressing insistently against her ass drove her discomfort up to new levels. She kept thinking about how it would feel if she saw it first hand, ran her hands over it, felt it inside her, and not just against her. Lara nearly groaned out loud at the idea, and could have gleefully punched a hole in her own head for not taking the extra two minutes to get the car.

"Movies, right. Movies are rather lovely." She had noticed his verbal misstep, but chose not to acknowledge it, seeing as how Peter hadn't seemed to remember to move his hand away from the very appendage he'd accidentally referenced. Figuring it would be more embarrassing for him and her both if she reminded him, she chose to keep her mouth shut.

Lara offered up a silent prayer of thanks that they'd pulled into the garage of her flat. She parked the bike and helped him ease off of it, then strode towards the house, intent on finding supplies to pull the bullet out of him and bandage him up as well as a generous dose of brandy. Initially it'd be for him, but she seriously considered having a bit herself.

Cold showers, Elvis, chainsaw juggling, French pastry... thought Peter, trying to think of something, anything, to distract himself from Lara's massive rack which he was still touching shit. He quickly shifted his hand before she noticed, he hoped. Fortunately, they were pulling into the garage.

Peter followed behind Lara, doing his best not to stare at her ass. Once they were inside, Peter tried to take his shirt off, before realizing he couldn't get his arm up. Instead, he ripped his shirt off--it was ruined from blood anyway. "Don't suppose you have a sterile work surface in here or anything."

One eye arched at his insane remark. "Sterile. In a garage. You must be joking." Tugging the cap off a bottle of rubbing alcohol she'd had stashed in the cabinet, she splashed it over the stainless steel workbench. As she sloshed the remnants of the bottle across her hands, she turned to motion him over to the stool in front of her and stopped dead.

There were two things distracting her at that moment. The half naked hot guy standing in the middle of her garage was fighting for top spot over the massively bruised and still trickling bloody wound. If she'd been anyone else, she may have been squeamish, but she was Lara Croft. She chewed bullets for breakfast and shot up tomb guarding mummy dogs before dinner. She could handle a bare chested guy with a bullet wound. Right?

He peeled his gloves off more carefully, not really paying much attention to Lara's crisis of lust. Peter hoped he wouldn't need to use his webshooters to hold himself down while she extracted the bullet from his shoulder, but it was possible.

"You never know, maybe you treat your own bullet wounds in here. I'm told it's remarkably illegal to have handguns in England." He sat on the bench and tried to appear brave, no matter how much his spider sense told him that this was going to hurt. "So, yeah, rip this thing out so I can go find some, you know, sports. I could sport something. As we manly, macho men do."

A quick dip of the hemostats in some iodine, and she was ready to do what she could with the bullet in his shoulder. Lara muttered a quick prayer that the drugs she'd given Peter when she first found him had at least partially worked, and she handed him the bottle of brandy she'd snagged from the kitchen just beyond the door of the garage.

"Drink this. It will help. And don't give me any of this macho bollocks. Believe me, I am well aware of you being a man." Taking a deep breath, she placed her hand on his shoulder and opened the hemostats marginally, and began to slide them into the wound, intent on finding the bullet quickly and pulling it out.

Peter's jerk at the feel of something new and foreign entering his skin again caused her to jiggle the hemostats more than she would have liked, and the wound began bleeding anew. Lara cursed a blue streak under her breath and closed her eyes, using her minds eye to focus her energy on getting the bullet out.

The problem was his metabolism, although Peter didn't know it. He processed poisons faster than most people did, and that included painkillers. It didn't hurt, as such, but he definitely felt it. The closest he could come to describing it was "icky."

Peter gulped down the brandy and made a face. "That's disappointing. A lifetime of--eeg--girly drinks." When Lara hesitated, he said, "It doesn't hurt. You can do it. I'm not worried; I trust you."

Her brow furrowed, eyes still closed, Lara repositioned the hemostat and went after it again. She felt, almost heard the imperceptible clink of metal against metal. Clasping the pincers of the hemostats around the jagged brass bullet, she pulled it out quickly and dropped it on the workbench along with the instrument she'd pulled it out with. "There," she said excitedly. "Bullet's out!"

Blood began to flow from the wound, and she staunched it with thick gauze pads. As she pressed her hand tightly against the pads, she noticed her body was fairly flush with his legs as they hung over the side of the bench. A faint blush tinged her hairline as it occurred to her that her breasts were pretty much grazing his thighs and she had the good sense to imperceptibly adjust her stance as she continued keeping pressure on his shoulder.

"Thanks." He put his hand over the wound and, by proxy, her hand. A few tears had come out during the whole process, not because it hurt, but because he knew it was supposed to hurt.

He was glad that she moved away before she noticed the fact that he was about to poke her in the boob if she shifted just a little bit. "It feels better already. That might be the drugs and alcohol talking, though. Any other ways you'd like to corrupt a minor tonight?"

Lara flushed to the roots of her pretty chestnut hair. She may have been distracted by the bleeding wound, but that didn't stop her from noticing Peter had pretty much silently let her know he was attracted. It made her wonder just how much blood he could have lost if he still had enough to stand at attention.

Clearing her throat, she answered him. "Well, if you feel up to it, I'm sure I could find a casino for some gambling fun. Or if you're really looking for a good time, there's always the strip club down the road."

"Sounds good." The drugs and alcohol were having an affect on him, but he was able to hold himself back. He had come very close to saying That wasn't the kind of corruption I had in mind. Beautiful as she was, and she did enter his mind almost every night when he was alone in his bedroom, it was mostly the fact that her smile made his heart go pitter-pat.

Probably best that he remove himself before he actually did say something and get kicked out of the house. Being homeless might have worked for some smellier superheroes, but he had standards. "So, um, thanks. I should go take a bath and clean up before this stuff leads to erection--infection! Leads to infection, so thanks for giving me hea--help, giving me help." He paused. "Bye now." Peter rushed away before he could embarrass himself further.

Upon hiding in the bathroom, Peter didn't quite shut the door. He was distracted by the fact that he shouldn't have been running; wasn't good for the arm. Neither was trying to strip one handed, to say nothing of the problem of dealing with his still being aroused despite the pain of running and embarrassment of his mouth. Being a teenager was annoying sometimes.

His fumbling attempts at words just made her blush harder, and she wanted so badly to ram her head into a wall. This was completely out of character for her. Lara had been around the block a few times, and while she wasn't the most experienced of ladies, she wasn't exactly a novice either. Yet here she was giggling and blushing like a schoolgirl over Peter's vocal stumblings.

She was partially relieved as he rushed out of the garage and began to clean up when she realized he'd taken off without letting her bandage the wound. He'd need to keep it dry as well, so he couldn't shower. She ran into the house, intent on knocking on the bathroom door and telling him she need to bandage him up.

As she came to the door, Lara saw that it was open. Figuring that he'd be dressed still, she pushed it the rest of the way, her mouth just beginning to open to tell him about the bandage. Her hand clamped over her mouth as she watched Peter's spectacularly naked body just barely climbing into the bathtub, the water only filling it halfway.

"I... bandage... you left... I just..." Lara stammered at him, before she just dropped the gauze pads and tape and ran out, slamming the door behind her.

Peter stared, blushing, for quite a few minutes. Then he finally said, "I think that is the worst thing that could possibly have happened ever." His still hard spider-doodle sent him a message that it disagreed with his assessment of current events. "Keep it down, you."

His face and other assorted body parts filled with blood, Peter focused on washing himself as well as he could. Maybe he was hoping that she would leave, or that he could think of some reason that she hadn't seen him naked--spontaneous blindness, perhaps?--but he went a bit slower than he really needed to, even with an injured arm. "Funny," he said aloud, "you'd think my spider sense would have gone off."

Spider-Doodle pointed out (as it could do very little besides point) that she hadn't been a danger, per se. "What did I tell you about shutting up? I told you to do it."

Peter dried himself off and tried to apply the bandage as best he could. It wasn't something he could do one-handed. He had thought that maybe his sticking-to-junk powers would help him out here, but he didn't have quite that level of control. "Oh no. Oh no no no." He had to ask Lara.

Peter wrapped a towel around his waist and carried the gauze and tape to Lara's room. He knocked before entering, because he hadn't been raised in a goddamn barn. Then he went in. "Um." He stood not far from where she was hiding her face in a pillow. She got herself to look up somehow. "I, uh... is there any way we could be embarrassed after you help me with this?" He held up the bandages. Unfortunately, he did so with the hand that was holding his towel around his waist, and it fell down.

Lara's eyes went wide and Spider-Doodle instantly rose to the occasion. "Wow, I was wrong about the worst thing." He quickly picked up the towel and held it in front of him, blushing so deeply his suit was thinking about suing him for copyright infringement.

"Oh for the love of God, this is just getting bloody ridiculous," she growled, more angry with her own inability to get over Peter than the situation as a whole. Shoving off the bed, she smoothed out the blood stained tank top she still wore.

Snatching the bandages and gauze and tape, she examined the wound that even now was already closing up. Lara wanted so badly to linger over the bandaging. She'd been really scared when she read his post, and had shoved that fear to the back of her mind. But now, looking at the hole in his shoulder she was reminded of how close he could have come to losing his life.

Heedless of the fact that he was in only a towel, she slid her arms around his neck and hugged him tightly, mindful of his injury. No words would come, so she just held on for nearly a full minute. Then just as quickly as the emotions had overcome her, they retreated.

She walked into her bathroom and grabbed some antibiotic ointment from the drawer, then slathered it on the bullet wound. Pressing a gauze pad over the hole, she cris-crossed strips of medical tape over the gauze until it was covered. Sighing at what she in hindsight realized was fairly embarrassing, she turned and walked to her bed flopping down on it.

"Are we good with the awkward now? Because I'm not sure I can pretend I'm not. I've been trying so hard to just be your friend and have fun but I'm bloody knackered right now, and I can't be arsed to pretend anymore." She turned to look back at him, all the fight gone out of her. "I like you Peter. Quite alot, actually. And I'm not really sure what the sodding hell I'm supposed to do about it."

"Um." Peter adjusted himself slightly, still red enough that the color was threatening to shift out of the visible spectrum. "I think you're an awesome lady and I'd totally like to try the dating thing sometime, but can we have this conversation sometime later when I'm not naked? I've seen a number of... art films... ahem... that feature this subject, and I'm ninety to ninety-five percent sure that we're not going the same way that that one did. For one thing, I've got a hole in me that isn't a sexy hole."

Peter paused, willing his erection to go away with all of his Spider-Might. It didn't Spider-Work, but it did cheer him up a bit to use Spider-Prefixes on everything.

On Spider-Everything.

The hug hadn't helped much either. In the moment, he could hold her tight and feel comforted. Now that it was past, his teenage mind was mostly focusing on her chest squished against his. "So I'm going to... um... deal with this, and then get dressed a little more, with a belt probably, and then... yeah." He opened the door without looking behind him and walked through it. There was a small crash and Peter came back in, a pair of very fancy underwear in his hair. "That's a closet in there," he helpfully informed her before finding the real door.

There was a brief cessation of noise before Peter shouted from his bedroom, "Argh! Panties!"
