The explanation of becoming Ion was slightly complicated, as it had happened twice, the first having taken course over a longer period of time. He'd only go into the second, which tied into everything else, but he figured they might as well get it out in the open. "All of a Green Lantern's power comes from his ring." He held his hand up to show her the green ring which had been given to him by Ganthet. Not that Kyle hadn't made adjustments to it himself. "With this ring, I was the Green Lantern. Nothing more. My ex-girlfriend Jade, was linked to the Starheart, a source of magic energy. When she died...she gave all her power to me...and it transformed me into Ion."
At her comparison to an American Express card for superheroes, he laughed a little, the thought amused him. "Never leave home without it." He still had his JLA implant, it allowed them to communicate with one another, but he doubted that it worked here. If the satelites were even set up, or if the Justice League existed at all.
"I'll have to keep that in mind." He murmured when she admitted that she was ticklish, her cheeks were a bright red now, which kept him smiling. "Batman? Your first crush was Batman?" He wasn't laughing at her, just the thought of a young girl pining after the caped crusader made him laugh. "You must like them tall, dark, and mysterious then." If he shared that little bit of information with Bruce, he doubted it would even phase the other man. Not that he would be, Kyle could just imagine the conversation in his mind was all.
Kyle knew she was doing her best to try and keep the mood good, he didn't blame her, they both had their fair share of problems. "Gone..as in they weren't around any more when I left." He could deal with it, he knew he could, he'd tried to accept it before. He blamed himself more than anyone else.
"Alright, you've got yourself a deal." He'd been meaning to talk to someone about it, but with everything going on, the world's problems were a lot more significant than his own. "My..my last three girlfriends, they're all..dead." There was a slight pause as he tried to gather his thoughts. "Because of what I am. I never pay the price for being a Green Lantern, it's the people around me that do. I wish it was me."
