"That's what I was when the first started. Just one of the boys, a Green Lantern." Things had changed, however, largely in part thanks to both Jade and the Guardians. "I'm something else now. Like the next step for Green Lanterns? Progression, evolution, whatever you want to call it. Ion. That's what they call me."
She was right about getting close to the people you fought a long side. Even the Justice League, they were suppose to serve a purpose, be a group, but not get close. Hadn't really worked out that way. He admired and respect all of the other members, asked them for advice when necessary, had even entrusted Superman with a personal favor before.
The way she was giggling made him smile that much more, not that he thought it was possible, but somehow he'd managed it. "That's right, Minnie the space cat, she lives up there. Talk about a litter box that's hard to clean." Mainly he was just teasing, trying to make sure that she was okay. "The Justice League of America. Had a membership card and everything." When she mentioned that she remembered him, he tilted his head to the side, arching an eyebrow. "Kinda weird, hearing you make an impression in another place, I'm glad though." It amused him, he'd seen kids playing with Green Lantern action figures before, it was strange at first, but you got use to it. "The Dark Knight himself. What's this confession of yours, huh?" He poked her gently in the ribs.
Kyle felt her gently touch his arm, her hand was soft and warm, he swallowed and then licked his dry lips. "It's...nothing. I don't want to drag the mood down." He smiled a little at her, it wasn't that he was unwilling to tell her, he just didn't want to burden her with his problems. "The short version of it is...my last three girlfriends, they're all gone." He hadn't wanted to say killed or murdered, that'd bring back memories, and he didn't want to deal with them.
"It usually does seem to come back to that. Starting to see it again. Before I came here, something big was about to happen. I could sense it...but it was like a huge puzzle, all the pieces didn't fit together yet."
