Dashing. It was the only word for Sam in all his armor. Anne took a deep breath and smiled up at him, careful to restrain herself as much as was possible. Still, his lips on her hand and-
"My own bride is more than lovely," the King boomed and Anne closed her eyes. She witheld the whimper she wanted to give and when the King patted her hand, her tense smile was something only Sam might recognize as not at all sincere. "Come, Princess. We'll be watching the rest of the festivities from the dias."
Anne's smile immediately softened and she even attempted flirtatious. "If milord doesn't mind, I'll stay and observe from here. I would very much like to..." she fumbled. "Speak to Lord Winchester about his family's horses."
The King paused, then nodded. "I can trust you to watch over my bride, Lord Winchester?" With a look that meant business, the King took his entourage and moved on. Anne took a deep breath and dismissed her own guards to follow.
"The King has entrusted my safety to Lord Winchester. I'll be safe. Go." And they were alone.
