She clung tightly to the man who was resolutely not her Daddy and sniffed into his coat as he carried her to the car. Under normal circumstances Molly would never let her Daddy put her seatbelt on for her. She was a big-grownup girl, Uncle Jack said so, but these were not normal circumstances and these were not her Daddies.
She smiled tentatively at the man who was not her Dad sitting in the back seat, and let him kiss the back of her hand as if she was a Princess in an old film.
After the silence stretched for a moment she realised neither of the grownups had any idea of what to say to her.
