"No, not cuts. Just bruises, mostly." He knew what broken ribs felt like so he was certain he didn't have any of those. He'd be fine once he got upstairs and into bed. Then he could just stretch out and fall asleep. "I've gone and made a mess of your first Mother's Day." Not that it was a surprise he'd done something like that. "I think I can walk upstairs just fine." He took her hand in his and pulled her a little closer so he could kiss her lightly on the lips. "Promise me that no matter what, you'll always be with me."
