Liam had just finished up what homework he had left from Potions and was currently sitting quite comfortably against a tree near the lake. It was always really quiet down there and being as everyone else was at dinner, Liam could be left alone to his own devices. He was holding a piece of charcoal between his thumb and index fingers and his hands were covered in black sooty powder. A sketchpad sat snug between his knees, his legs crossed, and his hair was messily shoved back away from his face. Nose close to the pad of paper, he bent down as he scribbled black onto white.
It had been a rather busy day, and he was sick of being inside so he'd wandered down to the water. His da always talked about a squid being in the lake, but he had yet to see it, though secretly he wished it did exist. Glancing up from his drawing he leaned his head against trunk of the tree and let out a sigh. All this stress, and people going missing. It was just...weird. He'd overheard his parents talking before he left for school and they'd sounded worried. Or at least apprehensive. "The last time his happened people died Seamus! We can't send our children away..." his mum had stressed, but his da sluffed it off. "They're fine Lav, Hogwarts is much more secure than it was when we were kids". He ran his hand through his hair again and bent back over his paper.
His nose was smudged with a spot of black powder and he was sweating slightly from the sun on his face. It was early evening, but the sun was still out. He loved warm weather, much better than cold. Summer was his favourite season and he hated that it was ending. His drawing was nearly finished. Moving back a bit he examined it, held it out at arm's length. "Hm," he mumbled, "Just a bit more..." He hunched over again and smeared charcoal out away from the rocks on the parchment. Picking it up again he held it out and tilted his head to the side. "Maybe..." but he stopped short, catching someone standing just behind his drawing pad. Quickly he put it down and covered it with his arm, had they seen it?
