His words only made her more afraid, made her stomach twist into knots as her skin grew cold. "Don't you dare, Remus John Lupin." Her voice was hoarse and strained. "Don't you leave me. Don't you try and be the martyr and sacrifice yourself. Please." Her voice cracked on the last word and she twisted her hand beneath his, clenching at the fabric of his shirt as a single tear spilled free to slide down her cheek. "If you can't let him take me from you, then I can't let him take you from me, or let you give yourself up to save me. I will never let you go, Remus. I can't- I won't. And even if I could, who's to say that it would even stop him? It won't. He'll kill you and then he'll continue right on down the line killing everyone you love and you won't be there to stop it."
She leaned in to press a kiss to the hand that rested over hers and then glanced up to meet his eyes. "We will find a way to turn this to our advantage, Remus. But you're not going to offer yourself up to be killed. Doing that wouldn't help anyone."
