His eyes open partially to focus down on her hand against his chest. He took in a slow, focused breath and tried his best not to let his own emotions overcome him. "Maybe...maybe you should let me go," he said quietly. "Crouch is going to come after everyone I care about...he knows the Order is where my heart lies...he's going to hurt all of you. Maybe I should...go and let him...have me. Maybe if he does, he won't hurt everyone. He won't hurt you," he began to ramble, afraid to look her in the eyes, though he brought his hand up to rest against hers.
"I love you...I love you so, Nymphadora. And I can't...I can't let him take you from me. If it'd stop him..." he continued, though he knew she wouldn't have any of it. In fact, he was having a hard time making it sound convincing. Though as much as he wanted to find a solution to this, to stop Crouch from killing his friends one by one, he wasn't fearless enough to walk ahead to his own death. "Maybe I could stop him before he hurts anyone..." He whispered, his voice so quiet and close to the breaking point.
