The sound of his voice, so small compared to their shouting, made her feel guilty. She wasn't usually the type to yell, ever, everyone knew Tonks was one of the most upbeat people around. It took a lot to get her angry, and when she did, she exploded... but she burnt out fast, too.
"I know," she replied softly, dropping her hands to her sides. Finally, Tonks stepped close to him, peering up into his eyes, "Remy, I know. I know all you want to do is help and I'm so sorry that you feel like you're no use, but you are. You feel like you're not doing anything, but what are any of us doing right now except waiting, really? Waiting for the time to act. When that time comes, you're supposed to be here to fight right alongside us. We need you, Remy. I need you." With the anger subsiding, the fear was taking over and Tonks felt her eyes begin to sting with unshed tears. Her hair began to fade, from bright angry red to short mousy brown. She lifted one hand, pressing it against his chest and then twining her fingers in his shirt. "The only reason I got so angry is because I was terrified, Remus. I don't want- No, I can't lose you. I can't. I swear to Merlin, Remus Lupin, I love you so much and if you die, if you leave me, I- I can't- I will never forgive you."
