Theodore frowned at Blaise. He really didn't understand why it was such a big deal that he bet on anything. What sort of enjoyment did Blaise get out of watching someone else gamble? That made even less sense than Blaise wanting to gamble, himself.
But, whatever. This was probably something he could only learn by doing, and it wasn't as though he was really worried about his finances. Nor about getting addicted to gambling.
"Fine," he said, and put a small bet on number 4. Not because he didn't trust Blaise's judgment where the hippogriffs were concerned, but - well, alright, it was partly because of that. He did think that Blaise probably knew which hippogriffs were favored to win, or to make him money, but he also seemed to like risks and dangerous bets. Picking one at random seemed just as safe: which was to say, not at all.
Besides, he liked the number 4. Not lucky, because he didn't believe in luck, but it was small, even, and - tidy.
