The risk of possibly losing was the part Theodore didn't understand. He didn't do things in which there was a significant risk of losing, or at the very least he tried to minimize the risk as much as possible. If he ever actually wanted to gamble, he thought, it would have been with a significantly weighted dice, metaphorically speaking.
Which might have made him more underhanded than Blaise, in this respect. Well, that was... new. Considering Theodore was normally one of the straightest shooters of the people he knew, the people he'd grown up with.
He looked over at the creatures, trying to see what Blaise was seeing, the differences in their strengths and abilities, which ones were weakest.
"What are you watching for?" he asked, when he had stared at them for a few moments. What was it he was supposed to see, before he decided to make a bet? Not that he was planning to gamble.
