"Security wards to poison intruders and steal their memories," Marek said, sitting up. He didn't make an effort to organize any of the books or notes on his bed; even if he didn't stop now, it was just as well to take a break. "I've got the poison bit down, that's the easy part. But stealing memories really isn't my specialty, and Ella hasn't gotten back to me."
He bent his knees to rest his sock-clad feet on the bed, elbows resting on his knees, and grinned at Melinda. "It's an interesting idea, though. Stealing memories to find out why someone broke through your wards, even after they're already dead." If he ever got a place of his own, he'd probably do something similar with his own wards. It was a good idea.
