"I didn't think I was ever going to be ready," Shane smiled, trying to be reassuring. She had nine months to prepare herself mentally and Kevin had, what, a few minutes? There was definitely a huge gap.
She laughed at his comment before saying, "I don't think he's at the stage where he notices things like that, but it would be better if you looked like yourself. Go ahead and get ready, I'll be back."
Shane hurried out and used the floo to get where she needed quickly, grabbing Elliot from where they were all staying to give her this time. When she returned, reentering the room to (hopefully) find Kevin as himself, she was followed by a light brown-headed boy who she thought was the cutest thing alive.
"Elliot," she said, no longer nervous or upset in anyway (he was the sunshine in her life, she couldn't help that). "This is your dad."
