Even though she'd said she didn't want an apology, I'm sorry was on the tip of Kevin's tongue. "Well," he said. "I'm glad you had your family, so you didn't go through that alone."
It still couldn't have been easy, though. And he, what could he have done if he'd known? Well, at the time, he might have been able to sink deeper into a disguise, come to Germany and help her. Now, he didn't think he could pull that off. He had friends, he had plans, he was trying to help save the world -- not that a child wasn't important, but, the world. Or, well, England. How much of that had come here to Germany, he wasn't sure.
"I- yeah, I'd like to meet him," he said. "Although, I don't know how much I'll actually be able to get here? Would it be better for him to meet me once, and maybe write to me, and I'll come when I can, and if the world changes so that I'm not... well, you know..."
He could still offer to come to Germany. But Dean more than anything had changed him, given him a conscience or a moral compass, directing him towards trying to fix things. If he could help Harry and Ron and Hermione get rid of Voldemort, he'd make the whole world safer, which only seemed more important now that he had a child, right?
It really, really seemed as though he should apologize, but he held his tongue. For now, at least.
