Shane wasn't used to being nervous. Most of the time she was more than confident, sure of herself and her decisions, comfortable with everything in her life. But the nerves had been eating away at her since the night before, causing her to get little rest and drink too much coffee in the morning; that was only followed by biting her nails and a preparatory trip to the house she'd be at later.
The family wasn't aware of Shane's plans but they made sure they left the place empty for the day, including the room Elliot had. But her son wasn't there, either. Just in case Kevin decided he wanted to meet her - their - son, he wasn't too far off.
Once everything was set to go, Shane apparated to the exact spot she was meeting Kevin and was a little surprised to see him there already, though it wasn't exactly him. Even seeing a different face and knowing the person underneath started a fresh wave of nerves because there was another person in the world with half of those genes in him. She couldn't think about that yet.
The shock still brought a smile that came from her natural friendliness toward the people she knew. A "Hi!" came out, probably a little overdone.
"We can go straight there if you want," she offered, holding out a shaky hand.
