Katie had been lying earlier when she'd told T she had errands to run. She had nothing to do. In fact lately she'd only left the flat when she absolutely had to, going out into the world... it hurt somehow now. She felt all raw and exposed, still just barely coming out from under the influence of whatever she was on, and her perception seemed so skewed. She'd think about things and for a second the fog-induced response of 'it's okay' would slip into her mind, only to be immediately scattered by the bright-sharp flash of truth: No, it's not.
So she stayed in her flat when she could, pacing the floor, Quaffle whining as he followed around behind her. There was no one to talk to, no one she could trust... she'd gone up to a few of her teammates or friends, just to see, making sure to be as careful as she could... but they all had that fog in their eyes. She'd thought briefly about Fred, something about the things he'd said back before this had all happened, and she thought maybe. But they'd been so distant, she didn't even know what to say to him to start... if he even wanted to help her. If he even could.
Which left T. The man half of her mind instinctively wanted to trust and the man who the other half was almost terrified of. But what other choice did she have?
She'd spent the hours since journaling him pacing back and forth in her flat, thinking and thinking, trying to work her brain around the entire situation over and over again as she'd been doing for days, mostly to no avail. She was so lost in her thoughts that when the knock on the door came she quiet literally jumped.
Quaffle instantly began to growl, and Katie shook her head. "Hush, Quaffle." She paused, rubbing clammy hands over her jeans. "For now, at least." With the dog sitting, eyes on the door but tail not wagging at all like it used to when he sensed T's presence, Katie walked forward and pulled open the door. "Hey." Her voice was almost flat, but her eyes roamed over his face, familiar and yet somehow not at the same time. She didn't know exactly what she was searching for in his gaze but after a moment she realized she'd been staring. Stepping back, she swallowed and said simply, "Come in."
