Tonks worked just about a full eight hour day, one that was much busier than normal and fraught with quite a lot more tension. In between making sure to be seen at her desk doing her work, she'd gone off on frequent forays into the Ministry, putting her Metamorphmagus skills to the best use. She was smart enough not to transform into truly important people- that was much too dangerous, there was too much risk of being noticed. But if she went for just important enough to get into more secure areas of the Ministry and find the information she'd needed.
It had taken a lot of work, spread carefully out over the day so as not to rile up suspicion. Some of it had been checking out the Ministru holding cells, then listening in on conversations (she didn't have to be a human for that, her ability to change into any creature came in very handy as well), some of it was getting into offices and looking through files. But in the end, she'd found the information she'd needed... not that it was the best of news, but still.
Finally she made her way home, making sure to look as nonchalant as she always did, even stopping for a pizza and walking home instead of apparating. Only when she was safely inside her flat and away from any prying eyes did she instantly drop the pizza on the table and pull out her wand to conjure her Patronus. "Wotcher Harry, it's me. Sorry it took so long, I couldn't risk sending this at work, it's not safe there. Anyway, I've got news, and- oof!" Apparently, trying to toe off your shoes while you were in the middle of talking wasn't the best idea, because she'd nearly tripped again. This time she'd caught herself and she instantly continued, "Sorry, I'm fine. Almost tripped." Mostly under her breathe, she added, "Buggering trainers."
Shaking her head, Tonks focused herself again. "Right. News. So I've found out where they're holding Lovegood, but I don't think you're going to like it much. He's not at the Ministry in any of the holding cells like I thought he'd be." She paused and then sighed. "He's in Azkaban." Growing quiet, Tonks worried at her lower lip. "And you know as well as I do how hard it is to get someone out of there, Harry. But I think... well, I think we might be able to manage it. Only... well, it's going to be dangerous, obviously." She was pacing back and forth in the small space, but finally she stopped to look at her Patronus, which was watching her calmly. "What do you think we should do, Harry. Tell me if it's worth all the risk, and then maybe we'll see if we can come up with a plan. Merlin knows this would be easier to figure out if we could talk face to face, but well..." She didn't think he'd want to take that risk, either, so she sighed. "I guess this will have to do?" With that, she waved her wand, and the Patronus took off, leaping out her window in search of the message's recipient.
