In the back of his mind, Terrence knew that they wouldn't be safe here for much longer; he could feel the destruction of the fire because it was still connected to him, to his magic. It wasn't overshadowed by the new feeling of Ella's soul inside him, but fueled by it, tangled up in it, until he felt as though he might burst into flames himself with the intensity of it. There was definitely a bit of smoke in his lungs, but he was only breathing shallowly anyway, surviving on the oxygen in Ella's exhale and breathing it back.
His body shuddered, and his grip on her tightened unconsciously, nails breaking her skin as his teeth dug hard into her lip, tasting blood. He heard his name on her tongue, and groaned hers back, holding her gaze for as long as he could before his eyes closed against the ecstasy flooding his body. He gave a cry that was almost a scream as he fell apart, knowing with a certainty that she'd be joining him soon.
The first thing he was aware of, when he regained even the slightest bit of his bearings - not his mind, but his consciousness of himself, where he ended and she began - was that not all of the feelings inside him had faded. The physical sensations had lessened significantly, though he hadn't pulled away from her, and his skin still tingled and stung pleasantly with the contact. But there was an indescribable emotion inside him, stronger than ever before, overwhelming and slightly terrifying, though mostly because he was vaguely aware of the fact that she could feel it. He cared, he cared about her with such a depth of emotion that he couldn't control it right now. He hadn't opened his eyes yet, not because he thought it would scare her away, but because he needed to pretend just for a moment that the unspoken feelings he'd had for her for years were still a secret.
Just a moment, and then he'd be alright. He kissed her again, lingering over it, and then started to laugh against her mouth. "We should get out of here," he said, breaking the kiss to cough, now that he was actually inhaling smoke. "The roof's going to cave in on us soon."
