Katie wasn't even aware that she was shaking her head as he talked, nor was she aware that she was pushing herself back with her feet, scooting slightly along the ground. "No." She said lowly, almost silently. Then louder now. "No. Stop that. Stop- stop saying all that. I don't-" I don't want to know. She could feel his words sinking into her, feel them pushing at her from the inside, bringing up thoughts and memories and breaking through the fog. He was pushing her towards something, towards some breaking point... a point she'd been headed to for a little while now, she thought, though for whatever reason she'd been resisting. She didn't want to know. She thought maybe she needed to, but she didn't want to. "Just stop. Stop." She covered her face with her hands, burying her head against her knees, trying to sink into denial but unable to let it surround her fully the way it had been before. Flashes of things and images and feelings kept breaking through in her mind; fear and worry, the government, newspaper headlines of death and prison escapes, outstretched wands, panic, hooded figures... her mother, a shining spot in the darkness, being pulled away by two Ministry officials to Azkaban... to her death. No, please not that. "Stop. Please..." Her voice was weak, muffled by her hands and her fear.
