"I never sleep as well without you beside me," Tonks said simply, letting him move closer to her. "I started to wake up the moment you got out of bed..." She had even grown to dislike the nights she spent at her place; it was never the same without his warmth at her back or his arm around her. She had more nightmares then, too.
When his arms wrapped around her, Tonks pressed herself close. Her hands slid around his back, rubbing slowly up and down the moment she noticed the way he was trembling slightly. "It's going to be okay, Remy." Her voice was soft and reassuring as she tilted her head back to meet his eyes. "I know it doesn't seem like it now, but it's going to be okay. We'll figure something out, alright? Some way to- to get you out of the house more, or-" Because she knew that was half of the problem, here. She'd seen it before with Sirius and here it was again with Remus- her Remus- and it scared her to her core. Guiltily, she added, "I'm sorry that you're stuck here, Remy. I'm sorry for making you stay here when you don't want to... I just-" She didn't think she was doing it for selfish reasons, though perhaps a part of it was that. She wanted him safe, because she loved him, even if she hadn't confessed that to him yet. In a whisper, she added, "I just want you to be safe."
