"If you ever want lessons, let me know," Patience said with a grin. She knew he was hesitant about being around her too often for his own reasons - hesitant about company in general - but it still felt right to offer. "In cooking, or wreath-making. I picked up a lot from my mother, and from books. I always loved to garden and work with plants, so it only made sense to let it carry over to basket-weaving or wreaths."
She considered King, who looked back at her, even though he wasn't moving from John's touch. He was hardly one to pass up affection from someone he liked, though she did like to think that he had an extra special bond with her. It felt that way on her side, at least.
"Maybe I'll try that next month," she said thoughtfully. "Especially if Fred can't come along. It was really nice to have company." She realized a moment later that she hadn't intended to say Fred's name, in case that was a problem, but it had slipped out in her excitement. At least she hadn't given a last name. Smiling again, she added, "It would have been nice to have you there, though."
