"I'm glad you love pumpkin pasties, because there are some in the basket," Patience said happily. "Among other things. Pumpkin is good all year round, but it's extra special this time of year."
She knew she wasn't the only one who adored autumn, but it was always nice to talk about it with someone who was similarly appreciative. She watched him open the basket, barely resisting the urge to clap her hands in excitement. This season really was making her extra energetic and pleased with everything.
"You can pet him," Patience said. She was very familiar with King by this point, and he was definitely regarding John with happy interest, not showing any signs of being nervous around him at all. That made Patience even happier, though she'd never been worried about John. "I know he likes running with me, and I think he considers me part of his pack. But I've hesitated to take him with me on the full, I don't want him getting scared of me."
