Bill felt his heart racing like it hadn't in a while. Why was he only realizing this now? Why did his body neglect to tell him that it wasn't functioning properly? The foggy feeling in his brain was a little less there. How strange.
His arms moved to wrap possessively around her waist. He couldn't say he'd ever really been a jealous person, but he wondered if she'd been thinking of someone else. If she'd thought, 'He will leave me, I should find someone else.' He didn't like that idea at all. He drew back just enough so that he could catch his breath. He refrained from saying half the stupid things that entered his mind at that time. It wouldn't make him sound at all sensible. Not that he'd been particularly sensible recently.
