"Do you read minds?" Kevin asked, a little startled. It would have seemed a silly question to him until he had encountered real magic, but now he knew that such things were possible.
Legilimency, of course, required eye contact and a spell, and he wasn't actually suspecting Su of having gone into his head or anything, but she had just essentially answered the question he'd been wondering about.
"I didn't think you were," he added after a moment. "Just, you know, I act - all the time, around anyone I can't trust, and it makes me think things. The possibility occurred to me, but I'm not even close to being awake enough to have decided if that was the theory I was going with."
Now he was wondering if that made sense. But she could read his mind, apparently, either that or her mind was scarily close to being on track with his. Which wasn't a bad thing, if it was true. "What I know right now is that you're the first girl I've seen in a while that actually knows me. And... you're warm, and I don't mind you trying to do whatever experiment it is you're doing. Also, I'll probably forever associate you with condiments and silverware, now."
