"I like talking to you," Kevin said, eyes closed. He hadn't opened his eyes at all yet, actually. Opening his eyes would be like surrendering to the fact that he was awake. "And I don't mind you trying to figure out what I taste like. I just have this feeling that it's an ungodly early hour and I will regret it until my dying day if I actually wake up completely right now."
Okay, so, that was a little overly dramatic. More than wanting to go back to sleep, he just wanted to keep this absolute contented feeling of being snuggled up with Su under the blankets, in a nice warm bed. They only had one more night in this bed, and then he didn't really know where they were going to be sleeping. At least until his next job, but he didn't know when that would be. He'd been checking his messages and emails, but sometimes he went a while without getting a job, which was when he started applying to deliver pizza for a few months and use it to pay for a hotel room, or something. But there were three people to consider now.
"I'll tell you what," he said after a moment. "Eventually I'll give up on falling asleep again, or maybe I'll fall asleep again and then wake up later, but whenever I decide to be fully conscious, I will move so that you can finish the experiment."
