Patience looked up at Chastity, starting to smile. There had been a time when, different as they were, they'd been able to finish each other's sentences and understand each other's trains of thought. She couldn't pinpoint exactly when the last time had been that it had happened, but it felt like forever.
Chastity had just described exactly what she'd been thinking about, though. Well, what she'd been thinking about before her mind had wandered off on the more realistic tangent of getting a dog, rather than imagining what it would be like with her brother still alive.
"Yes," she said, smiling. "It would have been exactly like that." She was quiet for a moment longer, and then, since their minds were on the same track, voiced the next thought she'd had. "Maybe we should get... something. A dog, or a couple of dogs. They could run around the grounds, we'd take them for walks, train them... make our own little family in a different way."
