Kevin grinned. He had other reasons for wanting that ice cream - that reason namely being that Maddy was really awesome - but he knew that ice cream was really good for people when they were down. It was probably a girl that had told him that, but that didn't really matter, did it? Ice cream cheered up everyone.
"Oh, you want to be distracted! Okay," he said easily. That, he could definitely do. "Well, what makes a good hug, first? There's the really good ones, when you're really happy to see someone, and you almost hug someone too tight, but it's hard to care even if it makes it hard to breathe. And then there's the big, comforting bear hug, that even the smallest people can give, if they know how to do it well. It's important for both people to be on about the same page with the hug, I think, even if not until the hug... progresses. You know?"
He paused. "And hugs can be bad if people aren't on the same page, and one person doesn't really want as intense of a hug as the other person does. Or if you don't manage the logistics of it very well and can't laugh about it. Or if one or both of you smell pretty bad and one or both of you actually mind. And then there's the weird hug where the person's afraid of you touching parts of their body, or something, and so they hold only parts of themselves back, like sticking their arse out really awkwardly."
Still tapping his fingers on the wheel to the music, he paused for a longer time to consider for a moment that he had only elaborated on two-person hugs, and what the differences were with added factors of multiple people. And to give Dean room to make any points, if he wanted to.
