It was indeed reassuring to have the healer's opinion, though Serafina had been about to agree with the healer and ask him to leave. She didn't protest when Blaise demonstrated that he had the strength to get up and move, largely because she was too busy watching to make sure he really was alright. Once she was absolutely sure that he was standing and moving steadily under his own power, they were already out of earshot.
"Of course I did," she said, with one raised eyebrow. "And I would have expected you to let me know when something like this happens. You may be perfectly capable of taking care of yourself, but I am still your mother, Blaise."
When she used his first name rather than an affectionate name like 'darling', it indicated that she meant business. Of course, if she'd used his full name, that would have been even more serious, but thankfully the situation was not as awful as she'd feared upon reading his note.
Perhaps she should ask his healer friend to notify her if it happened again, since Blaise hadn't bothered. It seemed like a common courtesy.
